Integrated Unit Term 2: Kia Kaha

Dear Parents & Room 41 Students here is an overview of what our integrated work for Term 2 and an outline of what will happen. Room 41 is a particularly sporty class, I am hoping that this will capture the interest of most students and help encourage all of us to make healthy lifestyle choices that will enhance our everyday well being.

Purpose:
Students will build on prior knowledge and current research about the relationship between the different body systems and how they function. Through an inquiry approach students will learn about the human body and how to care for and manipulate each body system to enhance health and physical performance.

Students will be able to:

  • Write a procedure and an explanation using the key elements outlined in e-asTTle.
  • Follow a procedure carefully and accurately & read a variety of explanations for the purpose of research to develop understanding about the Human Body.
  • Reflect on personal experiences and keep an accurate journal of learning and responses using both written and verbal means of communication.
  • Read, think critically and interpret results and information stored in tables, graphs and measurements.
  • Use research (books, experts, internet) to develop a health/fitness programme that will enhance the lifestyle of someone else that is realistic, achievable and can be monitored.

  • Personal journal entry, what they already do to take care of their body & what they could do better.
  • Teacher directed learning re: body systems as starting point for good questioning
